2018 Fantasy Baseball Week 18

Damn, not the result I was shooting for this week. I was losing the entire time, then on Saturday I tied it up, 6-6. Sunday looked pretty good, I had no chance of catching Sean in any of the hitting categories, but I thought I could at least keep the tie or maybe flip one. I looked at my team and my line was a win, ten strikeouts, two holds, a 0.96 ERA & WHIP. I figured that may have been good enough. I was wrong. Sean’s pitching flipped strikeouts and he picked up a save to tie that one. I think he flipped OBP as well. Nicely done Sean!

KOW–Shohei Ohtani–KOW

I gave Ohtani the perfect amount of playing time this week. I missed out on all of his bad games and actually got a nice stat line from him. His line is not that impressive (2/1/3/2/.333/.556), but I want to focus on one part: stolen bases. He stole two bases and now has five on the year. You would think the Angels would want him to not steal at all, considering the risk of getting hurt. I wonder what kind of hitter he could be if he gave up pitching (and honestly, what kind of pitcher if he gave up hitting…). He has the talent to be great at either one.

Around the League

Lindsey 7 Matt 4
Offord 6 James 5
Ryan 6 Dustin 6
Adam2 5 Jason 5
Pat 5 Gideon 5

This was definitely a close week for most people. Sean picked a great week to defeat me and win by a decent margin.

Best Move of the Week

Okay, this one is from a year ago. Ryan traded Giancarlo Stanton to Sean for Yu Darvish and Dustin Pedroia. I think that has worked out pretty well for Sean. How did Stanton do against me this week? He hit five home runs. My team only hit six.

The New Week

I take on Adam2 this week, who remains in second place. He is only one and a half behind Lindsey, who takes on Gideon (-8.5). Offord (-9.5) stays in fifth and takes on Sean (-16.5). Sean has a three game lead on me, so I need to be pretty good these next few weeks. We also have James vs. Dustin; while Ryan takes on Jason, who is only six games out of first.

This week’s musical choice is definitely a stretch. I did not think Lindsey would keep winning. I had to look for a new Posey…and I found actor Matthew Posey, who has been in a bunch of westerns, including the new Magnificent Seven. If you remember, the teaser had a cover of a “House of the Rising Sun” by Heavy Young Heathens. Here is their full version of The Animals classic.
