Decades Project: 1970s Movie–Logan’s Run

I watched this in high school, I think it was another movie that my dad saw was coming on and asked if I wanted to watch it. I love the premise, the utopian society that gets rid of people once they reach thirty years old. 

I am going to do something different here. I want to say how I would make the movie different if I were making it today. So there may be spoilers here.

The story would basically be the same, but when Logan 5 returns, instead of causing the computer to malfunction, we learn that Sanctuary was a myth created by the computer (which would be an AI nowadays) in order to herd the Runners to a single location so they could be easily killed, then processed and used as food (combine this and Soylent Green). Logan 5 learns that Carrousel and Sanctuary end with the same results: people being converted to food at age 30. As Logan tries to escape the horror he has discovered, the AI traps him and his fate is sealed. I think the movie needs to end with a chilling revelation. The dome is an experiment. Or that just outside of Washington DC is a giant community of people. Or that the rest of the world is full of crazed mutants or zombies. I do not know, but something other than the dome falls and people survive. Or maybe the dome falls, and we learn that it was protecting everyone from something awful.
