Best of 2022: Favorite Logan Moment

This has been a big year for Logan. He continues to grow and become this silly, little person, who is so much like his sister, but at the same time so very different. 

At the end of 2021, while we were forced to quarantine because of COVID, we decided to give potty training another try with Logan. The first time we tried, he just had zero interest, and it was a disaster. But this time? It just stuck. It was like a switch flipped for him and going on the potty was super easy. He has had accidents, but nothing major. We have had some fun poop and pee adventures together this year (peeing in a field, pooping in the woods, forgetting to hold it down while on the toilet…it has been a blast!). But yeah, enough about that fun stuff. 

Logan tries so hard to do everything that Payton does, that it ends up being hard to find something that was totally just his moment. However, one thing he likes more than Payton is playing any kind of catch. I mean, he cannot really catch very well yet, but he loves to throw a ball. There are many days of us just chilling here and throwing a little football back & forth to each other. 

But my favorite Logan thing is when he comes up to me randomly and says “Daddy, I love you.” He will usually follow that up with a hug. It is so unexpected, and always makes me smile. Although, he has learned that he can use to manipulate the situation. If he does something bad, and is about to be yelled at, he will preempt it with “I love you.” It usually works. 

I also have to mention another funny thing Logan does. Well, sometimes it is funny. Other times it is annoying. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, he will scream for one of us. “Mommy” or “Daddy!” He will scream it until someone goes in his room, and then he will want a tissue or to go potty. But this one night, he starts screaming “somebody, somebody, SOMEBODY!!!” So I jump out of bed, and run to his room. He says “can you pull my covers up?” I did it, and then he says “I love you” and falls right back asleep.
