Project Hail Mary Trailer

I cannot explain how excited I have been for this trailer. This was one of my favorite books of the last five years. Needless to say, I have been dying for any updates on this movie. 

The trailer looks fantastic. Ryan Gosling feels like Ryland Grace. I do not want to spoil anything for people, but it seems like the movie will follow the book closely.

I do have one complaint. I wish they kept Rocky a secret! This is not a spoiler, Rocky is in the trailer. I was hoping the trailer would end with Ryland sending a transmission, and while recording he says something like “wait, something is out there, it looks like…oh my god, is that…” Then it ends. I would love for the audience to have that same reaction we had as book readers. We did not expect Weir to give us aliens, his books lean more towards science than fiction. Also, they could have played the meeting with Rocky as terrifying, but now we all know that Ryland and Rocky will be friends. Something tells me that the studio insisted on giving people a tease of the alien.
