Super Bowl LVII

What a great game! I thought for sure the Eagles would get a chance to come back and tie it up. But then that penalty came, and the Chiefs were able to run the clock down and kick a field goal with a few seconds left. I can only imagine how devastating it was for Eagles fans. I almost feel bad.

The penalty was shitty. I mean, yeah it was a penalty. It just sucks that being the way a game ends. I know some people they should let that kind of thing go, and there are definitely times when defensive backs are grabbing, and the refs look the other way. If that happened in this case, and then the Chiefs miss the field goal, and the Eagles win the game, can you imagine how pissed Chiefs fans would be about a missed penalty?

You know what annoyed me more than that call? The overturned catch on DeVonta Smith. It made zero sense to me. They said that when he came down, the ball was moving while he was on the ground, so it was not a catch. I think that was the gist of it. However, they maintained that he had two feet in bounds and was in the process of making the catch. I believe that when he traps it against his helmet, while taking that second step, that is the point where it is a catch (I think the announcers said that as well). When he falls out of bounds, his knee touches the ground. So he is down, out of bounds. Then body hits and the ball moves around. Do you see my point? If it was a catch while in bounds, then the moment his knee touches, the play should be over, right? So what does it matter what happens when the rest of him hits the ground? If he were running into the endzone and his knee was down at the one-yard line before the ball crosses, then he is down and no touchdown. How is this different? These inconsistencies with what is or is not a catch drive me crazy.

Okay, onto the halftime show…

It was good. Nothing spectacular. I am not the biggest Rihanna fan in the world. I knew like two or three songs. I was impressed with the dancers on the suspended platforms. Also amazing that she did that while pregnant. I imagine there were some battles between legal teams, insurance companies, and who knows who else to make that happen. As you know, my favorite part is reading the outrage from people online about…well anything. “I don’t even know who she is” “When will they get Metallica?” “It was disgusting!” I mean, those are comments that come every year. I love it.

Anyways, another football season is in the books. Time to relax…just kidding, now we get to do mock drafts, overanalyze guys running through tires and bench-pressing, consider free agency, and speculate on trades!
