Decades Project: 1960s Music–The Same Guy???

There are three songs from the 1960s that I think are all about the same guy. Hell, there might be a bunch of songs that I am missing. Let me know what you think.

First up we have “Leader of the Pack” by The Shangri-Las

The girl in the song is dating the leader of a motorcycle gang, but her parents do not approve. They force her to break up with him, and he leaves during a rainstorm and wrecks his bike. He supposedly dies in the crash…but I do not think so. He told Betty his name was Jimmy.

This brings us to “It’s My Party” by Lesley Gore…

This song is about a girl, who is upset that her boyfriend, Johnny, shows up with a new girl. She sees the new girl wearing Johnny’s ring…does that sound like the MO of this guy? Jimmy gave Betty his ring in the last song. Hmmm…so who is this guy? Does he just go from town to town, dating young girls, and then running off? Sounds like it. Also, sounds exactly like this next song!

“The Wanderer” by Dion

He is the type of guy who likes to roam around. He goes from town to town meeting young, impressionable women, and he dates them. He probably calls them his little rose, so when they ask if he has eyes for other girls, he rips open his shirt, and he has a tattoo of a rose on his chest. Not only that, but he probably gives these girls a ring to show his affection. Once he gets what he wants, he hops in his car (no more motorcycle since he wrecked it, probably to fake his death).
