As you know, I enjoy a good conspiracy theory. Okay, more precisely, I enjoy really dumb conspiracy theories. Like the Katy Perry one or the Andrew W.K. stuff. My new favorite has to be the Cesar Sayoc stuff floating around out there.
He is the guy that has been charged with mailing pipe bombs to members of the Democratic party and to other people who have criticized President Trump. Fortunately none of them went off and no one was hurt. We know that he went to a bunch of Trump rallies and had a van with Pro-Trump stickers. The evidence against him is pretty damning and the case should be fairly easy.
And yet that has not stopped the conspiracy theory people to get to work. I have seen at least six people on Facebook say things like:
- He lives in Florida, where it is always sunny, how come all of those stickers look brand new?
- None of those bombs look even remotely real. They clearly would not work.
- He was a felon in Florida, how did he vote?
- He used to be a Democrat!
- There is something fishy about this guy.
- He worked at the same strip club as Stormy, how is that not weird???
At first I thought this was just more cable news stuff being repeated by these people, but after a few more times hearing some of this stuff, I decided to start looking to see what that dark corner of the internet was saying….and sure enough, these people have some crazy theories. Unfortunately, none of these theories have been put together into a good video yet. Someone needs to get on that ASAP. I even have the narrative for you:
“Cesar was a Democrat, working for his good friend George Soros. When Trump announced his presidential campaign, Soros had Cesar start going to rallies and pretending to be a huge fan. Sayoc would post crazy stuff all over social media, promoting anything Pro-Trump. Once Trump gets elected, Soros and Sayoc (see the connection, both of their names start with S!) move onto Phase 2. They want to get the Dems control of the House and maybe the Senate. So they send fake pipe bombs to anyone Trump has ever said anything even remotely negative towards. They know this will outrage the stupid leftist libtards and they will rush and vote for the Dems. Mission accomplished, the Dems now control the Congress!”
Feel free to copy & paste that anytime someone mentions that the Sayoc story is a little suspicious and that we just do not know the whole story. Hopefully most people can pick up on the obvious idiocy of any such theory.
But seriously, I read this one story, where the guy points out how Cesar Sayoc used to be a Democrat and he voted for Obama. The guy wrote this huge blog post about it and by the end his big smoking gun for how this was a false flag was that Sayoc voted for Obama.
Look, we know that about 13% of Trump voters actually voted for Obama. This is something that has been discussed pretty widely since the election. There have been numerous articles about this phenomenon (hell Wikipedia has a page dedicated to it.
I suppose I will never understand the people who get suckered into these beliefs. At least they provide me with some entertainment.
