2025 College Football Predictions: American Athletic Conference

This conference really comes down to a few teams: Tulane, Memphis, and the service academies. If Army & Navy can reload, they should be able to compete for the AAC title. But honestly, it comes down to Tulane, which lost some pieces, but then replaced them immediately, and Memphis. The Tigers have some questions marks going into the season, but I think Ryan Silver field is one of the better coaches out there, and I can see him making the jump to a big time school in the near future.

South Florida is a team to watch out for, they have a rough start to the season: Boise State, Florida, and Miami. I am not saying they will upset one of those teams, but if they can come out of that opening stretch feeling good, they could do some damage in conference play.

Intriguing Team: Temple. The Owls have a new head coach…K.C.Keeler. The former Sam Houston Bearkats coach did a remarkable job of transitioning them from FCS to a winning record at the FBS level in two seasons. Obviously, Keeler has a history of winning wherever he goes, and it would be nice to see Temple become somewhat respectable. Might not happen this year, but Keeler is the right man for the job.

Hot Seat: Trent Dilfer. I had high hopes for him at UAB, but I have a feeling going 7-17 in two seasons is not what the Blazers had in mind when they hired him. Especially when you consider they were a competitive team prior to his tenure, and the move to the AAC.

New Face: Look out AAC! Zach Kittley is the new coach at Florida Atlantic. Who is Zach? Just the guy I was saying Penn State or the Steelers should try to hire. He was the OC and QB coach at Houston Baptist, he then went to Western Kentucky (he brought Bailey Zappe with him), and they continued to put major points on the board. He then went to be the OC at Texas Tech, and quickly had that offense scoring. Now he finally gets the chance to see what he can do…funny how two teams called the Owls in this conference have exciting new coaches.
