2019 Fantasy Baseball Draft Results

I feel like there were only four or five of us actually drafting live. Kind of sad. I realize I did not give a ton of notice to the date, but it was late enough at night that I figured most people would be good. Oh well, the draft is not that important. The moves during the season are where you win.

The teams…

Reigning Champ–me
Power Bottoms–James
Ball So Hard–Matt
Scherzer & Kershaw–Sean
We are Phamily–Pat
Call Me Baltimore–Ryan
the art of spin–Jason
Immortan Offord–Offord
There is no spoon–Gideon
Time to rebuild–Adam2
All BETTS are off–Dustin
Rose(BUSH) Iglesias–Lindsey…I picked this one out because it made me giggle. This year I can post a Bush video every time she wins and it is a sort of pun on Raisel…

The first three rounds were for the keepers. Everyone kept three except for Gideon. He kept none and his first three picks were: Francisco Lindor, Justin Verlander, and Blake Snell. I would say he made the right decision.

I was pretty mad seeing Kris Bryant and Walker Buehler go off the board so quickly. I thought for sure Bryant may be available for me. I went with Votto because he was good for me last year. I think the power numbers rebound a bit. Next I took Corey Seager. Nothing like getting a perennial keeper in the fifth round. Even though I kept two aces, I could not resist taking another good starting pitcher. Strasburg can rack up the strikeouts.

In the 7th round, I took Chapman. I debated between him, Treinen, and Jansen. I took Gallo because…well home runs are good. I then took Cutch, I figure Blackmon and McCutchen should help balance some of Gallo’s deficiencies.

I do not expect Max Muncy to replicate last season, but he should be a fairly solid hitting second baseman. After that, I made two picks that could be stupid. I took Kimbrel and Keuchel. Neither is actually signed yet and I am not sure how effective players are that take this long to find a team. After that my computer froze and I got stuck drafting Elvis Andrus. That was not who I wanted there. My next two picks were Glasnow and Buxton. Both guys that have huge upsides, but just need to put it all together.

From here, things got a little weird for me. I took Eduardo Escobar because I was in dire need of a third baseman. I like Kyle Freeland and figured he was one of those best available type players. Next I went with Nick Senzel. I doubt he makes the opening day roster, but it is always worth having one of the top prospects. I took some pitchers (Musgrove and Weaver) because you can never have enough starting pitching. I took Kela for some holds.

Adam2 took Trey Mancini right before me and it threw me off. I had no one ready to go, so I just grabbed Strickland. It was at that moment that I remembered we still have catchers and picked up Danny Jansen.

Honestly, I have no clue how good my team will be this year. I like my pitching, but I will probably need to make some moves to get some hitting.

For the first week of the season, we get a championship rematch! Me vs. Adam2. Good luck everyone!
