Josh’s College Football Rankings 2023–Week 11

Ready for some positive news? Sam Houston State won another game! This time against an FBS opponent. Hey at least I could find some positive this week. Definitely nothing came from the Penn State game. I would rather not talk about it. Something tells me this season is going to get crazy during the final few weeks, especially when we get to the conference championship games. Imagine if Alabama beats Georgia and Oregon defeats Washington. What if Iowa beats Michigan/Ohio State???? Hahahaha, okay, that was a bit ridiculous.

  1. Georgia (10-0)–#1–W 52-17 #10 Ole Miss. Again, the Dawgs crush their hardest opponents.
  2. Michigan (10-0)–#2–W 24-15 #9 Penn State. No coach, no problem.
  3. Ohio State (10-0)–#3–W 38-3 Michigan State. I cannot wait to see them and Michigan play.
  4. Washington (10-0)–#5–W 35-28 #19 Utah. I am moving the Huskies up a spot since they are rolling through the Pac-12.
  5. Florida State (10-0)–#4–W 27-20 Miami. The Seminoles struggling in the first half each week is why they are dropped a spot.
  6. Oregon (9-1)–#6–W 36-27 USC. The Ducks defense held the Trojans under 50, that is impressive.
  7. Texas (9-1)–#7–W 29-26 TCU. Quinn Ewers is back! Did they really give up 20 in the 4th quarter though?
  8. Alabama (9-1)–#8–W 49-21 Kentucky. Jalen Milroe destroyed the Wildcats, three passing TDs and three rushing. If they played Texas now, I think it would be a different game.
  9. Louisville (9-1)–#11–W 31-24 Virginia. Losing to Pitt is such an ugly loss.
  10. Missouri (8-2)–#15–W 36-7 #12 Tennessee. The Tigers continued to prove they are for real this year. They were competitive against Georgia, which is more than Ole Miss can say.
  11. Penn State (8-2)–#9–L 24-15 #2 Michigan. Not a pretty loss. I have some complaints about everything, but this is not the spot.
  12. Ole Miss (8-2)–#10–L 52-17 #1 Georgia. The Penn State of the SEC.
  13. Oregon State (8-2)–#18–W 62-17 Stanford
  14. Oklahoma (8-2)–#21–W 59-20 West Virginia. I thought this game would be close, I was wrong.
  15. Tulane (9-1)–#16–W 24-22 Tulsa
  16. JMU (10-0)–#17–W 44-6 UConn
  17. LSU (7-3)–#22–W 52-35 Florida
  18. Arizona (7-3)–#23–W 34-31 Colorado. The Wildcats are playing some good football right now, a very dangerous 3-loss team.
  19. Tennessee (7-3)–#12–L 36-7 #15 Missouri
  20. UNC (8-2)–#20–W 47-45 2OT Duke. Seriously, let them and USC play!
  21. Utah (7-3)–#19–L 35-28 #5 Washington
  22. Notre Dame (7-3)–HM–BYE
  23. Toledo (9-1)–#25–W 49-23 Eastern Michigan
  24. Kansas State (7-3)–WL–W 59-25 Baylor
  25. Liberty (10-0)–HM–W 38-10 Old Dominion. Ugh, I had to acknowledge their record.

Honorable Mention
Iowa (8-2)–HM–W 22-0 Rutgers. They may crack the rankings again.
NC State (7-3)–WL–W 26-6 Wake Forest
Troy (8-2)–HM–W 45-14 ULM
Memphis (8-2)–HM–W 44-38 OT Charlotte
Kansas (7-3)–#13–L 16-13 Texas Tech. The Jayhawks are such an inconsistent team.

Watch List
Oklahoma State (7-3)–#14–L 45-3 UCF
Coastal Carolina (7-3)–NR–W 31-23 Texas State. The Chanticleers keep winning without Grayson McCall. Keep an eye on them, they will give James Madison a tough game.
SMU (8-2)–NR–W 45-21 North Texas
UTSA (7-3)–NR–W 34-14 Rice. The Roadrunners have won six in a row.
USC (7-4)–WL–L 36-27 #6 Oregon. You have to watch this team.

Bridgeforth Stadium

This is a dud week. You have SEC teams playing a decent amount of non-conference games, including Alabama facing Chattanooga. I guess if you want an interesting game from that weirdness, check out New Mexico State at Auburn. The Aggies could maybe get their first P5 win (do not fact-check that one). Anyways, the big three: Appalachian State at #16 James Madison. The Dukes have a tough final two weeks, but the Mountaineers will not go down without a fight. Then we have #4 Washington at #13 Oregon State. Listen, this is the Beavers chance to ruin the Pac-12’s playoff hopes. And then finally, #1 Georgia at #19 Tennessee. The Dawgs will continue to roll over their ranked opponents. People can shut up about Georgia not playing anybody.
