2018 Fantasy Baseball Week 11

If you told me last week that James would have rate statistics like this .239/.309/4.55/1.31; I would have pretty much guaranteed a victory. That would be pretty low goals to try and beat…and yet my team decided that a .282 OBP would be perfectly acceptable. I mean, that was an awful performance. My entire team sucks donkey balls. They should all be fired.

KOW–Jonathan Lucroy–KOW

A few people deserve this one. Gleyber Torres was awful, C.J. Cron atrocious, George Spring terrible, Charlie Blackmon sucked, Brandon Crawford miserable, but the worst hitter was Lucroy. A .118 AVG with a .167 OBP. Do you know how hard it is to be that bad at getting on base during an entire week as a professional baseball player? Pretty damn hard. If you decided not to swing at all, you would probably get walked at a higher rate than Lucroy (or maybe hit).

Around the League

Offord 10 Matt 2
Lindsey 8 Dustin 4
Ryan 6 Pat 5
Jason 9 Sean 2
Adam2 7 Gideon 5

Nice to see Offord back on the winning side. Gideon loses, Lindsey & Jason win, looks like the gap between the top three is widening. The rest of us are just playing to make the playoffs.

Best Move of the Week

It is so weird to me that James was able to only pick up one win this week while streaming pitchers. However, this method did net him 26 additional strikeouts. While I do not think it is the best option out there (unless you really have terrible pitching–looking at you Offord), then perhaps it is the way to go. I guess another way this is worthwhile is if you have a superior relief pitching group who can help bring down those rate stats. Whatever, congrats James, it worked for you this week. Although, not sure how long it will continue to work. I think some people have noticed that Eduardo Rodriguez is a good pitcher (wise of Sean to pick him up).

The New Week

I dropped to 8th place and again have a losing record. I take on Matt, who is sitting in 11th. Lindsey is in 2nd and only two games behind Gideon, she faces Offord, who is just ahead of me in 7th. James took my 5th place spot and should have an easy one against Ryan (although, has he won like three weeks in a row?). Jason is in 3rd place and six games behind the leader. He tests his luck against Dustin in 10th place. Adam2 is in 4th place, but still 13.5 games out, like I said, the top three have a big lead. He takes on Pat, who continues to hang around the .500 mark and is in 9th. The big matchup of the week is Gideon and Sean. Lindsey definitely wants Sean to upset Gideon. Sean needs a win to leapfrog Adam2 & James.

To celebrate Lindsey’s win, we have another song from Dazed and Confused. Rick Derringer-Rock & Roll (Hoochie Koo). One of my favorite classic rock jams. Quick story. One time my dad & I made a mix tape to play in his truck before he got a CD player. This was the first song, followed by “Radar Love” by Golden Earring.  The weird things you remember. Also, do you remember how fun it was making an actual tape? Even when recording from a CD to tape, it was still a process. Burning CDs made life so much simpler.
