Rings of Power: 10 Plot Holes–A Rebuttal

I find ScreenRant articles to be somewhat enjoyable, but a bit tedious. I understand they are trying to churn out content to generate content, but sometimes it is annoying. Like this article: 10 Plot Holes That Bothered Redditors the Most. This is the annoying type of article that tries to find plot holes with everything. “Why was that guy standing three feet from the door? They never explained it, that is a plot hole!” So here are my responses to that article. Yeah, I am trying to generate clicks by leeching off them, whatever. I recommend reading their article, then reading my response.

  1. The Southland King Prophecy Had No Purpose!
No one ever stated the prophecy. Or perhaps like most prophecy, it was misinterpreted. Or more likely, Sauron/Halbrand spread the prophecy in order to gain more people to his side. Also, this was more Galadriel wanting to believe in something to fight Sauron. Shows how blinded she is in her hunt for him. She did not even question the idea of the prophecy or that he had this crest.
  2. How Are Others In Middle-Earth Not Involved?
This time period seems like the peoples of Middle-Earth have become much more secluded. The humans in the Southlands do not like the Elves who are there watching them. I am guessing the Elvish presence keeps the rest of the Southlands disjointed, hence why they are duped into believing a king will return (and a ruler does come…Sauron).
  3. Halbrand’s Claim Of Orcs In The Southlands Should Have Been More Suspicious
Yes, if Galadriel was thinking rationally, then she would have questioned Halbrand more about the Orcs. However, this illustrates her flaws in this age. She is blinded by her desire to find and destroy Sauron.
  4. The Timing Of Numenor’s Arrival Doesn’t Add Up
Okay, this one is probably a legit complaint, but I suppose the Numenoreans could have sent a few scouts as soon as they landed. Or maybe they saw smoke. It needed to be a dramatic rescue, haha.
  5. How Did Galadriel And Queen Miriel Know Where To Charge Into Battle?
    Yep, same point as #4
  6. The Balrog Under Khazad-dum Should Still Be Dormant
Maybe it woke up for a little bit. Have you never woken up from a deep sleep, did a few yawns or roars, then go back to sleep? Maybe that is what Balrogs do. The article says the Balrog was awake before they started mining, but the dwarves were clearly mining mithril. It just seems like something silly to get worked up over.
  7. The Stranger’s Actions Seem Pointless If He Isn’t Sauron
If the Stranger is Gandalf (or another wizard), then it does make sense that his power would be similar to Sauron’s power. They are both maia. It also makes sense that the Stranger is confused when he comes to Middle-Earth. Remember, when Gandalf returned as the White Wizard, he was confused about his name at first.
  8. Mithril Wouldn’t Be The Only Option To Save The Elves
Meh. I do not have much of a rebuttal here.
  9. Celebrimbor’s Problem With Smithing The Mithril Made No Sense
It was a new ore, but yeah, Celebrimbor was acting like an idiot. He did not know how to add different metals together? This felt like they did not reach out to an actual smith or metalurgist to come up with a legit difficulty.
  10. The Blade Of Finrod’s Dagger Would Not Have Been Silver Or Gold
Again, they should have spoken with a real smith. I agree with this Redditor.

So what do you think? Did I shut down those Redditors?
