Messin’ Up Lyrics Again

I have written before about how I screw up music lyrics quite often. And as you know, I am a fan of the band AJR.  I have listened to “Yes I’m a Mess” at least 1000 times. Payton made up a dance to it, she played it on repeat for like three hours while practicing. I know this song. And I never actually messed up the lyrics, but my interpretation was a little off…

So here is the opening to the song:

“I leave my house at three o’clock
With 200 texts and two missed calls
Guess all of the friends that I pissed off
All talk”

For the longest time, I thought “all talk” meant that his friends would never do anything about being pissed off. No follow through, they would be mad, but they would never actually confront him. 

Then, one day we were going somewhere and the song was on, and for some reason it clicked! The people he pissed off, they all talk to each other! 

At least I was singing the right words…
