2020 Fantasy Baseball Draft Results

The draft finally happened. I had to reset things three times (which is the Yahoo limit). Twice because of not knowing if/when the season would start and then a third time because I forgot to set the keepers.

First we need to get to know the other teams…

Foul Balls–Adam2, last year’s champion
Scherzer & OtherGuys–Sean, the runner-up
Chico’s Bail Bonds–James
Its LITTLE Beefcakes–Ryan (this name will make sense in a second)
There is no Spoon–Gideon
All BETTS are off–Dustin
the art of spin–Jason
We are Phamily–Pat
Ball So Hard–Matt
Flauting Beefcake–Me! My name comes from a review of a play Ryan was in, where the reviewer said something about how the guys flaunt a little beefcake.

First we have the keepers. I only kept two and it was a hard decision for me. I went with Strasburg and initially had Freeman, but then he tested positive for COVID-19 and it sounds like he may miss a decent chunk of the season to start. I decided to keep Kris Bryant.

Some interesting keepers out there. Not sure about McNeil, especially when two teams were dropped. In the third round, I had a few options and I decided to go with Harper. In a short season, he could end up starting out hot and just play at a ridiculous level.

Next I went with Anthony Rendon. Then I took Nola because I figured more starting pitching could not hurt. The next pick was a tough one for me. I thought about Goldschmidt, but Machado sitting there looked too good.

I was hoping either Stanton or Judge would fall to me, but alas they did not. My big decision was between Ozuna and Donaldson. I went with Marcell, but I have a feeling that may end up being a mistake.

I definitely reached here for Luis Robert. If most people were live drafting, I probably would have waited, but since half the people were on auto-draft, I knew that someone would take him. I do not know how good he will be, but I would hate to pass up on him and then he ends up being a complete superstar.

Drafting Andrew McCutchen in the 15th round made me sad. I am taking a gamble that the time off helped Cutch and he could have a very solid year.

I went on a little run taking relievers, but realized that I was lacking at 2B. I decided to take a chance on a Gavin Lux. I think he will be a very good player, but maybe not right off the bat this year.

Nothing major here. I finally took a catcher.

I liked my final pick of Aquino, but then I read that he was sent back to the training camp. I like Ryan’s pick of Matt Carpenter. He could have a rebound year and end up being quite worth that next to last pick. Same goes with Edwin Encarnacion.

The season starts in a few days and I could not be more excited! Good luck to everyone, I will be facing off against Adam2 for the first week. Great, I start with the reigning champ.
