2022 NFL Pick ‘Em Week 6

Damn, only six last week. I feel like I could pick blindly and do better than six. Jon has his third 12+ week, which helped him jump to second place. He is only two behind Mom. Offord is tied with him, but Jon has the tie-breakers. After that it goes Scott, me, Sean, James, and Adam.

Underdog Special: Kansas City Chiefs (+3.0)
This week I am taking the Chiefs, and I am actually taking the money line. I think too many people are acting like the Chiefs are a step below the Bills, and something tells me Patrick Mahomes will put on a show. I was correct last week about the Giants, so stick with me.
Underdog Record: 4-1 (+$32.15)

Steelers Prediction: They get destroyed this week. I think Fournette has a monster game. Well I hope he has one since I have him in one of my important fantasy leagues. Maybe Kenny Pickett can pick up his first passing touchdown this week. That would be nice.
Steelers Prediction Record: 2-3

I do not have much to add to the discussion this week about Roughing the Passer penalties. We all saw the penalty in the Chiefs/Raiders game, as well as the one for hitting Tom Brady. I know the referees are trying to avoid another Tua situation, but this is not the way. The call against the Chiefs was ridiculous. The defender was penalized for landing on Carr. Like what is he supposed to do? Roll off of the quarterback as they are flying through the air? Seems like it would defy the laws of physics. Carr has the football. It was a sack. I am all for a roughing penalty if someone takes a shot at the QB after he has thrown the ball. If the defender has started the attempt to sack before the QB has released, then it becomes murky, but that is what review is for, right?

It reminds me of the targeting calls in college. I am all for protecting players, but some of these calls are ridiculous. I think in college, the targeting call should have two tiers. The booth should look at intent. If it looks like there was a deliberate attempt to harm someone, then eject the player. But, if the targeting is just incidental, the penalty yards should suffice. If you want players to stop tackling that way, then make the penalty excessive. Instead of 15 yards, make it 25 yards. The ejection seems excessive (unless they are actually trying to deliver a damaging hit, which does happen).
