2018 Fantasy Baseball Keepers

The keeper deadline came this week. Naturally everyone was prompt in getting their keepers submitted. Just kidding, it never happens easily. No offense to anyone, but this should be fairly simple and yet it never is. Should I not use the Facebook group for announcements? What would be a better way?

Anyways, on to the actual keepers. This year I kept Jose Altuve and George Springer again. I also kept Marcell Ozuna for the first time. I was tempted to keep Dallas Keuchel, but was a little nervous to keep three Astros. I think Ozuna will have a similar year as last year, so I think my team will be alright. Also, I am glad I kept an outfielder because it looks like pitchers are going to be widely available, I mean look at these names out there:

Corey Kluber
Stephen Strasburg
Jacob deGrom
Justin Verlander
Dallas Keuchel
Carlos Carrasco
Robbie Ray
Aaron Nola
Yu Darvish
Jake Arrieta

As you can see, there are some pitchers out there.

It is interesting that so many people opted not to keep someone they kept the previous year. Only 53% are being kept for year two. I honestly thought it would be much higher. Technically it is a little higher since Giancarlo was kept for two years, but by different owners. There were a few questionable keepers (Travis Shaw, Cody Bellinger, Yoan Moncada?). Offord was the only person to keep the same three from the previous year, which makes sense since he finished second last year and first the year before. Also shocking is that Francisco Lindor, Mookie Betts, Corey Seager, and Kluber were not kept. Dustin throws things off by keeping no one though.

The draft is Thursday, so for those of you who hate fantasy baseball talk, be prepared…the season is almost here!
