Sleep…Am I Good At It?

Since I bought my new watch, I have been tracking my sleep. I have not changed my sleep patterns since I started tracking because I was curious to see what my numbers looked like.

I get about 6 hrs 26 mins of sleep each night. My average bedtime is 12:25 and I wake up around 6:54. That sounds about right. I should mention my work schedule. I typically work either 6:30-4 or 2:30-11. If I work at 6:30 and Lindsey is off or working at 2:30, then I get up at 5:45. If we both work at 6:30 and we have to take the kids to daycare, then I get up at 5:00. And if we do not need to take them to daycare, then I get up at 5:30. Yeah, it can be a bit confusing. The days I am off, the kids usually wake us up between 7:30-8:30.

So how does my sleep breakdown:
Awake: 7%
REM: 30%
Light: 58%
Deep: 5%

Everything I have read seems that the deep sleep should be much higher. Like I am getting about 20 minutes of deep sleep and I think you should probably get around an hour to two. That is the point when your body is doing the repairs and maintenance of the body. I think the REM sleep is when you dream and do some other stuff. I think those are the states where it is hard to wake someone. I bet my wife is in those for like 70%. Me? Nah, I like that light sleep. You know, when every sound in the house wakes me up.

Maybe I will change my ways, but probably not. I hate going to bed. I like to stay up.
