2020 Democratic Primary: Our Picks

The Democratic Primary Fantasy League kicked off last night, which meant that everyone participating needed to have their picks submitted to me. We have 19 people and the picks were more varied than I expected.

Josh: Warren, Harris, Ryan, Williamson, Bennet, Bullock. I wanted to take Yang, but it was just not possible if I wanted both Warren & Harris.

Sean’s Ramblings: Warren, Gillibrand, Castro, Hickenlooper, Bennet, Bullock
Lauren P: Warren, Mayor Pete, Hickenlooper, Swalwell, Bennet, Gravel
Scott P: Biden, Booker, Gillibrand, Williamson, Bennet, Gravel
Eric D: Biden, Harris, Delaney, Williamson, Bennet, Gravel
Aunt Sandy: Sanders, Mayor Pete, Ryan, de Blasio, Bennet, Delaney
Denise E: Warren, Yang, Ryan, de Blasio, Bennet, Delaney
Jason K: Biden, Warren, de Blasio, Williamson, Bennet, Delaney
Justin M: Warren, Mayor Pete, Castro, Williamson, Bennet, Delaney
Rich H: Biden, Mayor Pete, Yang, Williamson, Bennet, Delaney
Jason I: Warren, Mayor Pete, Castro, Bullock, Bennet, Delaney
Julius R: Biden, Booker, Gillibrand, Bullock, Bennet, Delaney
Ryan: Warren, Harris, Hickenlooper, Gravel, Williamson, Delaney
Potter: Mayor Pete, Beto, Yang, de Blasio, Bennet, Delaney
Bill: Sanders, Beto, Gillibrand, Bullock, Bennet, Delaney
Lindsey: Mayor Pete, Castro, Yang, Moulton, Swalwell, Bullock
Matt: Sanders, Biden, Williamson, Bullock, Bennet, Delaney
Adam W: Warren, Mayor Pete, Castro, Bennet, Bullock, Delaney
Melissa F: Biden, Warren, de Blasio, Williamson, Bullock, Messam

Time for some fun facts…

-No one took Amy Klobuchar, Jay Inslee, Tulsi Gabbard
-Elizabeth Warren led the top tier candidates–10
-Pete Buttigieg was taken 8 times, but Beto was only chose twice
-The most popular person was Michael Bennet at 16. Granted the $10 candidates were obviously the most selected, people probably just picked a random one
-I should have just dropped the $20 tag altogether and put those candidates into the $10 bin. Same with the $40 mark, it may have made sense to just drop all of them to the $30 section. Whatever, too late now.
-Biden was picked seven times, Sanders only three. I guess people do not trust septuagenarians, but 80-something year old Gravel was picked four times.
-The YangGang has more support than Cory Booker (4 to 2), but Castro is beating both of them at five.
-I think many people took Williamson as their wildcard pick.
-John Delaney was picked 13 times, which is about the number of times the debate moderators said “Congressman, we will get to you in a minute.”

I will try to give an update of the standings periodically. If you are in the Facebook group, you might get quick updates each week.

Good luck to everyone involved and if anyone is interested in joining, just hit me up. The first debate was last night, but I could probably squeeze a few more people into the group. Or if you want to join the Facebook group to join in some lively and fun discussions about the candidates, just let me know.

I would like to give a shout out to the people who helped me out. Sean, Justin, and Eric for insight into scoring. And a huge thanks to Jason K (aka BatmanJason from fantasy football) for creating the spreadsheet for me and being there to bounce ideas off.
