Kid Update

I guess it is time to give a quick update on what has been going on with the kids.

Logan
We have not had anymore scares with the jerking motions. Yay! Unfortunately, he did get sick and we had to give him breathing treatments of Albuterol. Those were definitely not fun. I felt like I was murdering him with poisonous gas. Luckily, during one of his last doctor visits, our doctor said his lungs sounded great, so that helped.

I wish I could say everything was peachy. Unfortunately, this kid has some bad luck. So after he got over the breathing thing, he started spitting up his bottle. It become increasingly harder to feed him. He would take like an ounce and then scream and spit out the majority of it.

Lindsey made an appointment for our doctor and at first I thought she was just overreacting. I mean, she thought he was spitting up a ton and to me it was just a normal amount. However, after one night, I realized she was right.

I gave him his bottle and he only took about three ounces, which is pretty odd for him before bed. He started screaming and went completely rigid. I stood up because sometimes he likes to bounce. He was arching his back so hard that it took me pushing on his back to get him right and when I did, he burped. Well, it more like a retch, you know that awful sound you make before you puke. He then threw up all of the bottle on me. My shirt was covered. I laid him down on his changing pad and he threw up more, all over the front of his dresser. He then fell right asleep.

The next day his doctor heard this and said that it was probably acid reflux, which is what a few other people and what Lindsey suspected, since she has it really bad as well. They prescribed him some medicine and he has been completely different. Seriously, in the four days we have been giving it to him, we have seen a total change. He eats his full bottle, he is happy, and just completely content most of the time.

He started smiling a few weeks ago, but now he smiles all the time. He likes when Payton and Samson give him attention. He even smiles when I make stupid faces and speak with dumb accents.

Payton
On Father’s Day, she woke up and told Lindsey that she did not want to wear a diaper and wanted to wear big girl underwear. We have been trying to get her interested for a few weeks and she will sit on the potty at times, but for the most part, she does not care. It was great that she came to this decision on her own.

And it seemed to go alright that first day. I mean, she had accidents, but she liked going on the potty. Unfortunately, it has not improved. She does not care if she pees or poops in her pants. She sleeps in a pull-up and yesterday when she got up, I took her to the bathroom and she did not go. We came downstairs and I made her breakfast (French toast sticks!). I said “tell me if you have to go potty.” She looks at me and says “I pooped Daddy.” Ugh. At least she was still in a pull-up. So I changed her and put her in underwear.

I took her to the bathroom after a bit and she did not have to go. Five minutes later, I can smell poop. Sure enough, she pooped. “Why didn’t you tell me you had to poop?” She said “I pooped Daddy.” I do not think she is getting the concept of before…

I dropped her off at daycare with plenty of changes of shorts and underwear. She was only going to be there for like two hours. She peed herself twice there, then once with Lindsey. Today she is in a pull-up and we are just going to the potty every hour.

Samson
Hey, do you honestly think I would forget our first kid? He turned four recently. Crazy to think we have had him that long. I had to remind Lindsey about how we never thought we would get him to stop having accidents in the house. We just kept at it and then one day, BOOM, he no longer went in the house. Maybe Payton will be that way…

I feel bad for Samson though, this crappy weather has meant very little chances to go for long walks. And you can tell he is tired of the other two getting all the attention. He does not act up or anything, but when you sit down on the couch without them, he immediately jumps up and cuddles right against you.

It looks like everything is going somewhat okay in the Croyle household.
