2025 Preview

I think this year, instead of doing categories of the different things I am looking forward to, I will just give you a preview of things that are happening this year. Sound good? Well too bad if not, that is how I plan to do it.

The biggest thing I am excited for this year is baseball/softball season. Payton is in her final year of 8U (I think, but I am not 100% certain–I guess her league age is still considered 7, so next year she could also play at this level, this always confuses me, haha). I think our team will be better this year, and I have some ideas for how me and the other coaches can help the girls improve. Logan starts coach pitch baseball this year. I signed up to be an assistant coach, similar to what I did the first year of softball. Logan’s big Christmas present was a batting cage. Yes, a full cage. I am looking forward to the weather warming up so we can set it up (I think I have enough guys lined up to help me with it, but I am always willing to take more help–there could be beer involved!).

Now that Payton’s birthday party is over, I should be able to get started on her bedroom. This is a big project, and I am looking forward to the challenge. The hardest part is going to be expanding her closet door. Her actual closet is huge, but it has just a single door, instead of a sliding door or even french style doors. There are a few things outside that I would like to work on, but I may need to repair the shed roof (looks like it is starting to rot, yay).

I think we are going to Myrtle Beach at some point this year. I think it will just be us, so we will probably take Samson. At least we are going to try to find a place that allows dogs. I do not think we will take Pickles & Bluey. I would also like another Hershey Park trip in the summer time so we can hit up the water slides. I would also like to do a few more just me and Lindsey things this year. The kids are able to spend the night at their friend’s houses, so I think we should take advantage of it. Some more nights of going to do something. Not saying we need to head out of town (although, I would like to go to a concert this summer, if Lindsey & I can find something), but even a night heading to a nice dinner would be a welcome change of pace. Lindsey and I do get to travel to Arizona this year for work, which is very exciting.

I found this list of movies coming out this year…I like it since it has the dates they come out.

I crossed out the movies that I do not care about. Obviously I am most excited about Superman and Fantastic Four. It looks like a fairly good year for kids movies. I love that we have two kids movies coming out on June 13th. I think I mentioned that awhile ago that if they put more kids movies in the theater, especially during those times when kids are off school…people would go. So those days when Lindsey and I work opposite shifts, or have different days off, and the kids will want to do something. BOOM! We are going to the movies.

Over in the sports world, I am looking forward to a few things in 2025. I am excited to see if the Pirates can improve. Or at the very least, can Paul Skenes be even better in his first full season? It would be nice to hit up some Pirates games, but also more Millrats and Curve games. The Savannah Bananas are coming to Pittsburgh, and I entered the lottery for tickets, I really hope we get picked. Maybe the Steelers can improve during the off-season, and you know, not lose in the first round of the playoffs. Another big maybe is golf. I mean, I will watch golf, but who knows if I ever get a chance to go out. But honestly, the thing I am most excited for in sports? Penn State football! The news just keeps getting better regarding players staying for another year. I believe they will be one of the top-ranked teams coming into the 2025 season.

I know I said this last year, but I want to experiment more with different foods on the smoker and Blackstone. I did chicken wings before and they were fantastic. Would love to do that again. It would be fun to find something interesting to make for the Summer party this year. Instead of saving tons of recipes, maybe just start trying some of them. Although, the kids will not eat anything, so that does cause some problems.

2025 should be a good year!
