Friday Five–Penn State Basketball

Not sure if you folks noticed, but March Madness is going on right now. Let me check to see how the Nittany Lions are doing…oh wait, Penn State sucks at basketball. But there have been moments. And there are players that I have enjoyed watching play. Here are my top five:
FIVE

Talor Battle–he led the Nittany Lions to a NIT Championship during his sophomore year. I am fairly certain that was the first tournament the team has ever won. Battle also managed to take Penn State to the tournament his senior season.
FOUR

Lamar Stevens–the 2020 season was looking like it could be magical, and then COVID happened, and the season was cancelled. Stevens was so much fun to watch. He was like the definition of heart and soul of a team, it was seriously through sheer willpower that this team did so well. He was also the reason that I started watching games after a many year hiatus.
THREE

Pete Lisicky–when I started going to Penn State basketball games, Lisicky was the star. He had a sweet shot, and was deadly beyond the arc. I can only imagine how many threes he would make nowadays.
TWO

Kelly Mazzante–she was lighting up the scoreboard while I was at Penn State, so it was easy to follow her career and get excited about her breaking records. She was the Big Ten leading scorer for a decent amount of time. She was a scoring machine, and fun to watch.
ONE

Joe Crispin–I will never forget watching Crispin lead Penn State to victory over UNC in the tournament. I went to a bunch of games when he played, and like Stevens, he was one of those guys that you knew would just take control of the game or put the team on his back.
