The Last of Us–Episode 202

The second episode decided to go hard. Way harder than I expected for a second episode. There will definitely be spoilers.
The episode begins with the town going on high alert because of zombies hiding under the snow under a bunch of dead zombies. The squad took them down, but after the report of the zombies getting smarter, the town is not taking any chances. I like this about the show. These people have spent years preparing, and they take these things seriously.
And guess what? The attack comes, and even though the zombies break through, the people are able to push them back…with a nice assist from a ton of dogs. That was awesome, and it made Samson perk up. Honestly, as the zombies were running through the town, I thought for sure this was the end of the community, but then it was stopped. I am guessing another big attack will happen before the end of the season (especially since we saw the pipe fungi moving after the guy broke up the pipe…).
Okay, now can we get to the HOLY SHIT moment?
Again, SPOILERS!
Joel rescues Abby. She takes Joel and Dina to the lodge, and then immediately reveals who they are. They drug Dina, then Abby shoots Joel in the leg. My assumption was that Abby would go with them to Jackson Hole, then try to take Joel out there. But instead, she beats the shit out of Joel, lets him know that the doctor he killed was her father. Then Ellie shows up! I really thought she was going to rescue him. I figured she would get the drop, and make a trade. OR she would kill a few, then Joel would attack someone, then Abby and like someone else would run for it.
But no, Ellie makes a valiant attempt, but ends up on the ground and is forced to watch as Abby stabs Joel in the back of the head/neck area with a broken golf club (did she pick an 8-iron?). The episode ends with Jake (is that his name?) showing up, then riding back to the town with Ellie on his horse, Dina strapped to a horse as she wakes back up, and Joel being pulled behind.
The music at the end was a cover of the Shawn James song “Through the Valley” by Ashley Johnson, who was the voice of Ellie in the game. Pretty cool.
I am guessing that we will see more of Joel, at least in flashbacks of the last five years. Also, I am looking forward to Ellie going after Abby.
