Decades Project: 1970s Movie–Blazing Saddles

One of my favorite movies. I watched this so many times when I was a kid. After seeing Young Frankenstein, I wanted to watch more Mel Brooks movies, and Dad wanted me to see this classic. I was definitely young, maybe 10 or 11 when I first watched it. I cannot imagine having Payton watch this in three years.
This movie is always the one people use as an example of something that could not be made today, or would offend young people if they watched it. I do not know about all that. I mean, the movie is such a great satire of Westerns, but also points out how ridiculous racists sound. I think young people could still watch it, but they just might need to have some historical context given to them before the movie. I feel like the vocal minority would scream about it (far left would want to cancel it because of racism, far right would be screaming that it makes racists look bad). In reality, people would watch it, and laugh at many of the jokes, roll their eyes at some, and be totally confused at the crazy ending.
Fun fact: Madeline Khan was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 47th Academy Awards for her role as Lili Von Schtupp.
