Decades Project: 2010s Music–Year 2014!

I mentioned in my post about 2011 how I started listening to new music. Well, in 2013 I took a new position at work and had a very long drive (70-minutes one-way each day). That was when I started listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and listening to new music kind of fell off the radar. Then, in 2015, Lindsey and I bought a house. You might be wondering how does buying a house cause you to listen to new music? Well, let me tell you. Cutting the grass, doing yard work, cleaning the floors, etc. If I had headphones on, I realized that podcasts were not loud enough to hear over the lawnmower/vacuum. So I listened to music. Here are some great songs I discovered that first year (all of them came from 2014, which was another solid year).

I know this will shock you, but I was totally singing the wrong lyrics to this song for the longest time. I cannot even remember how off I was, but it was not close.

Payton and Logan like this song, which makes me happy. Actually, they listen to lots of my music, they are cool kids.

I think I mentioned this song before, this was one of those songs that Lindsey and I both really loved. Also, I thought the words were “I wanna be your Method Man” instead of “left-hand man.” Lindsey made fun of me for that one.

This song was in Sing 2, and Payton loves it. We have probably listened to it like 20,000 times. She also thinks this video is silly.

This is one of my favorite songs from the 2010s. I made it my ringtone, back when those were a thing. In fact, I think it is still my ringtone (not that I ever have my phone off silent). Crazy to think this song is ten years old!
