Best of 2024: Favorite Sports Moment

I was thinking about the great sports moments from this year, and there are a few that standout. Xander Schauffele winning his first major, then winning another one. Scottie Sheffler winning gold at the Olympics. Or some of the great moments at the Olympics like Stephen Nedoroscik winning the pommel horse, which helped the United States win bronze. Also at the Olympics, we had two women wrestlers win gold: Amit Elor and Sarah Hildebrandt. Penn State dominated at Nationals (Aaron Brooks and Carter Starocci both became four time champs–plus Carter did it while recovering from a knee injury).
And then there was Paul Skenes. It is hard to pick a single moment. Every game he pitched was amazing. The All-Star Game, winning the Rookie of the Year, and just being absolutely dominant in his first season. It has been awhile since Pirates fans have had a player to be truly excited about, and it was cool seeing the way the fans reacted to Skenes.
But you know what? That was not my favorite moment. Basically any time that Tyler Warren gets the ball is must watch TV. The Penn State tight end has been exceptional this season. I took the kids to their first White Out, and they got to see Warren leap over the Washington defense to score a touchdown. He did it earlier in the year against Illinois, and Logan thought that was the coolest thing ever. He kept running around yelling “he jumped over everyone!” I still think my favorite moment was when he snapped the ball to Pribula, who tossed it to Allar, who then threw it deep to Warren in the end zone. #44 does it all.
