Deadpool & Wolverine

It had been awhile since I saw a movie on opening night, but I knew if I did not see Deadpool & Wolverine that night, that it would probably be a week before I could see it, and do you know how difficult it would be to avoid spoilers for that long? Fortunately, I was able to see it last Thursday, and did not have to worry about people ruining it for me.
The movie was fantastic. I would honestly put in the top ten of MCU movies, and maybe in the top five (I think I need to redo my ranking). The movie does a great job of poking fun of…well just about everything, but also incorporating the multiverse ideas from the Loki series.
Here are a few of the things I really enjoyed, there will be spoilers.
-The fight scenes, especially between Wolverine and Deadpool. The fight in the minivan was hilarious, but also well done.
-The Logan variants. The jokes were excellent, particularly with the short Logan (such a funny mockery of fans screaming that Hugh Jackman is too tall for the role).
-Bringing back some of the Fox characters, particularly Johnny Storm. The setup that he is Captain America was fairly telegraphed, but when he yells “flame on”, it still made me laugh (and not going to lie, gave me chills). I was surprised by Blade and Elektra being there.

-I loved Cassandra Nova. Shame she had to die, but maybe there will be a variant out there that can show up again sometime.
-Channing Tatum as Gambit was excellent. Especially when the characters would make a comment about not being remembered or whatever, and he would say something about never existing. And yet when he was fighting at the end, I was excited about the idea of seeing a Gambit movie.
-Making fun of the multiverse, and saying what most fans have been saying for a while now.
Basically everything about the movie was great.
Let me address one of the complaints I have read out there: this movie cheapens the sacrifice made by Wolverine at the end of Logan. I do not think that is the case. The entire premise of this movie is that this Logan is NOT that Logan. He fucked up and got all his teammates killed. And as B-15 says at the end, his awful past is what made him into the Logan who was able to help Wade save his universe. You can still watch Logan and cry at the end when Logan dies in Laura’s arms.
People always find something to complain about…
